  4. When you start WISDOM OF THE AGES, the first screen that will appear
  5. is the Quick Start Menu dialog.  Select the "Memo" pushbutton.  You'll
  6. see it in the lower right hand corner of the dialog.  It has the
  7. caption "Hints and Tips."  It'll put you into the help system and give
  8. you a brief summary of useful program information.

  12. Quote-A-Day is an optional feature that enables you to start every
  13. Windows session with an inspirational quote.
  14.  
  15. Here's how it works:  Windows has a StartUp group.  Each time Windows
  16. starts it will automatically run the program(s) in its StartUp group.
  17. We've added a command switch, "D" for Daily, to WISDOM that takes
  18. advantage of this feature.
  19.  
  20. When you start WISDOM with the D command switch, all the opening
  21. screens are bypassed.  Your quote, selected by Quote-A-Day, will be
  22. the first thing you see.  When you're done reading it, you can
  23. select the Exit command to immediately end the program or you can
  24. take some other action.

  26. All you have to do to activate this feature is copy the program
  27. icon to your StartUp group, and then add the D command switch to
  28. the Program Item Properties' Command Line as follows:

  30. Change:       C:\WISDOM25\WIS
  31. To:           C:\WISDOM25\WIS D

  39. 1. From Program Manager's Main Menu select Window | Wisdom of the Ages.
  40. 2. From Program Manager's Main Menu select Window | StartUp.
  41.    (Both groups should now be open on your Desktop.  You may want
  42.     to move one group so you can see both of them.)
  43. 3. Press and hold down <CTRL> while you drag the Wisdom icon from
  44.    the Wisdom of the Ages window to the StartUp window.  (Notice
  45.    how the mouse pointer becomes a replica of the Wisdom icon.)
  46. 4. When the Wisdom icon is in the StartUp group window release both the
  47.    mouse button and the <CTRL> key.
  48. 5. From Program Manager's Main Menu select File | Properties and
  49.    the Program Item Properties dialog appears.
  50. 6. Press the <TAB> key once to move to the "Command Line."
  51. 7. Press the <END> key once to move to the end of the "Command Line."
  52. 8. Press the <SpaceBar> once and then type the letter D.
  53. 9. Click the OK button.

  55. Quote-A-Day should now be enabled.  It'll take effect the very next
  56. time you start Windows.

  62. 1. Click the Start button, and then point to Settings.
  63. 2. Click Taskbar, and then click the Start Menu Programs tab.
  64. 3. Click Add, and then click Browse.
  65. 4. Type C:\WISDOM25\WIS D in the Command Line text box.
  66. 5. Click Next, and then double-click the StartUp folder.
  67. 6. Type the name that you want to see on the StartUp menu,
  68.    and then click Finish.
  69. 7. Click the Close Button of the Taskbar Properties Menu.

  71. Quote-A-Day should now be enabled.  It'll take effect the very next
  72. time you start Windows.

  76. If you're a new Windows user, we'll just mention that green text
  77. in a Windows' help system designates a hypertext link.  That means that
  78. more, or related, information is available on that subject.  You can
  79. access it by positioning your mouse pointer on the green text and
  80. clicking your left mouse button.
